Hive Fleet Minotaur is about to spawn another broodling. A rather huge one...
A living walking cannon, alternately bellowing and blasting. What's not to like? Well the points are a bit pricey, but you have to admit it's a real temptation to field this monster.
As of this writing, I'm gathering the materials for this latest kitbash. A modified pyrovore cannon should work well here, as will some venothrope vents. A carnifex body and some green stuff should round it out.
Shoutout to Darkstar92 on DakkaDakka for the inspiration for this project. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? ;)
Stay tuned for the birthing! :)

HEY,IT'S STRIPEYBIOVORE. WOULD A CONVERTED HIVE GUARD CANNON WORK BETTER? IT'S BIGGER, AND YOU COULD CUT AND MOULD IT TO THE SHAPE YOU WANT.
ReplyDeleteHi, Stripey! I picked the pyrovore's cannon as it's a bit beefier and has those interesting coils along it's length. Incidentally I purchased this pyro in finecast so it should be easy to cut and won't cause a weight distribution problem.
ReplyDeleteWe've been discussing the model this weekend with our two Tyranid players, very interested to see how this turns out.
ReplyDeleteMe too. :) In the end, it'll probably look quite similar to Darkstar's, but I hope to put a slight personal spin on it too. ;) I have to say I'm really excited about making this. It'll be challenging and thus all the more rewarding if I can make it properly.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I see what you mean by the coils and the weight. Sorry
DeleteNah, it's okay. They make hive guard in finecast too now. I suppose it probably boils down to personal preference. I've seen one kitbash include two glued-together barbed stranglers! There's probably as many ways to do this as there are hobbyists. :)
Delete\That's the beauty of nids. Perhaps, if you justify the abilities with points, you could completely create your own lifeforms for non-competitive games. And alter current ones aswell. My brother said that as long as he thinks it's fair I can field my own miniatures. He especialy liked the idea of a ripper-shooting biovore thing. As you sad, there as many ways to do nids as their are hobbyists.
ReplyDeleteThe Warpshadow forum has a sub-forum entitled "Divergent Evolutions" where new player-designed Tyranid units are discussed. Sounds like lots of 'nid players like to evolve the swarm. :)
